An Adaptation from Shakespeare done by WBCHSE

📝 As You Like It – Chapter 3 Summary

In the province of France, a cruel usurper banished his elder brother, the rightful Duke, who took shelter in the Forest of Arden with his loyal followers. They lived a free and peaceful life, like Robin Hood, finding joy and wisdom in nature.

Rosalind, the Duke’s daughter, stayed in the palace with her cousin Celia, the usurper’s daughter. Despite political enmity, their bond remained strong.

They attended a wrestling match where a brave young man named Orlando defeated a professional wrestler. Rosalind developed feelings for him. When the Duke learned Orlando was the son of his brother’s friend, he got angry. Later, he banished Rosalind, too.

Celia and Rosalind fled to the Forest of Arden in disguise—Rosalind as a boy named Ganymede, and Celia as Aliena. They lived simply and soon met Orlando, who had also fled after escaping a murder plot by his brother Oliver. In the forest, many events unfolded: Oliver was saved by Orlando and repented. He and Celia fell in love.

Rosalind, still disguised, tested Orlando’s love. Eventually, she revealed her true identity, and the two couples—Rosalind & Orlando, Celia & Oliver—got married. The rightful Duke was restored to power when the usurper, transformed by a hermit, gave up the throne.

Peace and joy returned to all, symbolizing forgiveness, true love, and harmony with nature.
